SARAH RASMUSSEN started her first theater company at 14 in her hometown of Sisseton, South Dakota after seeing a Garland Wright production. Since then she's gone on to a national freelance career with critical acclaim for inventive visual storytelling, intellectually ambitious yet accessible productions and a generous exchange between actor and audience. She is currently a director with the SoHo Rep Writer/Director Lab and Women's Project Lab, and also serves as a Literary Consultant and Associate Director of Oregon Shakespeare Festival's innovative Black Swan Lab. Recent work include Chile Pod, a new TYA musical (La Jolla Playhouse), Red Ink (Mixed Blood) 1001 (Mixed Blood), Eurydice (Long Island Univ., ACTF nom.) Sarah has developed and directed new work at centers including The O'Neill, PlayPenn, New Dramatists, The Lark, TheaterMasters Take Ten Festival, UCSD's Baldwin New Play Festival and PS 122. Other credits include an original Hurricane Katrina inspired Twelfth Night, The Skin of Our Teeth (UCSD/La Jolla Playhouse), The Little Prince, Mac Wellman's School for Devils, DNA (Hangar Theater/Wedge) . She is a former Fulbright Scholar, Drama League Directing Fellow, Jack O'Brien Directing Fellow, member of Lincoln Center Director's Lab and Phil Killian Directing Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
